The Last House explores the themes of ownership, addiction, mental health and the UK housing crisis.

Finding the perfect house felt impossible until ‘13 The Drive - add real address’ was found, providing just the right amount of dereliction, character and atmosphere. With a run down exterior, bars on the door, original floorboards, bare brick interior walls and a cellar, it was the perfect starting point for our art director. Filming in the east end of London offered the perfect urban location adding a varied structural landscape that gave the story interesting scenery. The railway lines, canal boats and distant vast empty gas holders added to the intense atmosphere of the location.
Lead actor Matt Jure fully immersed himself with the characters experiences enabling him to deliver an authentic performance. Far from the glamour and luxury of some actor accommodation Matt preferred to stay on location in the house for the entire shoot, sleeping on the sofa and using its limited facilities. This was the first project JP had worked on with Art Director Will Randall of ’Bardulf Creative’ They have since worked on multiple projects together including Strategy, The Cull and Catflap. RESEARCH
JP knew he wanted art and literature references to play a part in the film to support the underlying storyline of wealth, ownership and private property. After lengthy research, specific paintings, books and props were intentionally placed as easter eggs throughout the film. With a shared interest in ill was only too happy to accommodate JP’s vision.
